On 15th August'08, for the first time all these years, i actually glued my eyes on the full live telecast of a table-tennis match.
Singapore was facing South Korea in the Olympics Woman's Team Championship Semi-Final. I am not a fan of table-tennis and neither am i a fan of any of our table tennis ladies. Maybe its because of the news, radio and papers that ran headlines of Singapore hopeful of grabbing their first Olympics medal since 1960. Somehow the headlines just propelled me to cheer for our Team Singapore. It was a very tense and nail-biting encounter for Singapore.
World number nine Feng Tianwei was the key player, launching the contest with a rapid-fire win in the first match and closing it with a classy and controlled victory in the tense final match.
Congratulations to Team Singapore on their first Olympic medal!
Kudos to our ladies in the Singapore Colors! You've done Singapore proud!
